Camouflage, green and blue in the depths of water, coral and seaweed, these fish wander through the cold waters of the Pacific in search of food.
I’m fascinated with the compositional appearance of fish in the water, the way they dart suddenly into an environment, hover weightless, drift and disappear, their motion is unique in nature, their experience of the world so dramatic in the context of evolution that we land-based creatures evolve from and cannot escape.
After developing images of the fish pictured in earlier posts, and assembling them into wall vignettes, I have photographed a number of them for compilation into a stop-motion video.
This piece combines collage and watercolor to integrate the elements of land, ocean, sky and marine wildlife in a colorful yet poignant moment.
I plan to make these smaller pieces part of the stop-motion video process as well.
